Summary: We are currently looking for regional OTR company drivers to haul non-hazard fats & oils throughout Elkhart, IN region. Tractors and Trailers that are assigned to the driver stay with the driver. These are long-term dedicated runs using trucks and trailers/bobtails to pick up/deliver liquid products to customers’ sites.  

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. 

  • Attendance at all safety meetings required; may be asked to serve on the Safety Committee. 
  • Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude. 
  • Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies and procedures (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, vehicle safety checks, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc.). 
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions and/or concerns to assigned Dispatcher.  
  • Knowledge of auxiliary pumps for loading and unloading vehicles and using spill kits and fire extinguishers. 
  • Operates semi-truck with a trailer according to Company policies and state/federal laws.  
  • Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. 
  • Pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; returns container with screen and lock secured; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature. 
  • Chocks rear wheels of truck and trailer before any unloading takes place. Removes chocks before driving away from delivery. 
  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness and replaces gaskets, hoses, and other related articles, as necessary. 
  • Loads and unloads tanker with liquid products adhering to all Company and Governmental regulations.  
  • Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicles; operates vehicles under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.  
  • Maintains miscellaneous vehicle service duties such as checking daily oil, water, fuel, tires, and tank related items. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school or GED 
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating a vehicle with liquid tanker truck. 
  • Prior route experience within a customer-oriented environment preferred. 
  • Works well with others in a team environment. 
  • Dependable; reliable; ability to drive regionally OTR  
  • Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance. 
  • Ability to read and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  
  • Ability to speak and communicate using devices supplied by the Company.  
  • Able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

AG Energy Specialized Requirements:  

  • Must be 23 years of age with clean MVR (Insurance requirement). 
  • No DWI or DUI within the last 5 years 
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s license Class A with a tanker endorsement. 
  • Current MVR detailing driving record within Company standards. 
  • Meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements. 
  • Pass substance and alcohol screening (US DOT Part 40 & US DOT 382) as required by DOT/Company Policy. 
  • Must accept AG Energy Transports Drug and Alcohol Request on Clearinghouse website.  
  • Agree to random substance/alcohol screening as required by DOT/Company Policy.  
  • Pass Background check as required by DOT/Company Policy.  
  • Will need to register on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/ 
  • Must possess a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor trailer/bobtail to prevent damage to property and vehicle equipment. 

Physical Demands:  

  • Constantly required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch. 
  • Vision: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls 
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms 
  • Regularly lift and/or move hoses and fittings that weigh up to 50 pounds 
  • Climb steps and ladders 
  • Frequently Lifts/push/pull/ carries up to 50 pounds 
  • Safe Lifting criteria: Floor to knuckle 50 pounds, Shoulder to overhead 50 pounds  
  • Required to sit in a tractor cab for extended periods of time
